Bienvenidos a la Sala de Espera is an installation currently on view as part of REINOS RADICALES at Yolia Art Space in Englewood, CO. Curated by Grace Gutierrez.

Bienvenidos a la Sala de Espera is a multimedia installation that invites guests to wait awhile in the liminal space of a surreal waiting room. What are you waiting for? A doctor’s visit? Jury duty? An oil change? Peruse the magazines, make a call, take in the orientation video. Wait as long as you’d like.

Bienvenidos a la Sala de Espera includes an experimental video animation by Lares Feliciano as well as two digital collage works: Tax Season and There is Mall in My Dreams

Fantasy is more than escapism—it is a tool for empowerment. This exhibition examines how the genre of fantasy, with its boundless capacity for reimagining realities, can be used to reclaim power and rewrite cultural narratives. By weaving myth, folklore, and speculative futures, the works challenge oppressive structures and celebrate marginalized identities. They transform what is often dismissed as "unrealistic" into a radical space for possibility, where new worlds emerge, and the power to shape them belongs to those historically silenced.
